About us
Welcome to the the website of the U.K’s No.1 Ford Retail Dealer
Norman Lawrence founded the company in 1953. He bought St Brydes Garage and started doing mechanical repairs. The business soon flourished, becoming a Vauxhall Dealer in 1962. A service department, petrol forecourt, parts department and bodyshop were added as sales continued to grow. In 1984 Lawrence Of Kemnay moved to a purpose built site and brought all departments under one roof for the first time.
1989 saw Mr Lawrence retire and sell the company to daughter Helen and her husband, Ian. After a lengthy and mutually rewarding association, Lawrence Of Kemnay and Vauxhall parted in August 2000.
Ford recognised an opportunity and appointed Lawrence Of Kemnay as a Retail Dealer in November of that year.
In July 2002 the company relocated to the current premises on the A96 Aberdeen-Inverness trunk road, just off the Lawrence Of Kemnay Roundabout. This modern building provides excellent visibility with convenient access and customer parking. Displaying around 120 New and Used cars the dealership also houses an 11 bay mechanical workshop with MOT testing station, parts department and state of the art bodyshop.
Helen and Ian retired in March 2005 and a Management Buyout provided continuity to customers and staff alike.
Our Balmedie service centre was opened in August 2008 after an extensive refurbishment programme.
Concentrating exclusively on mechanical repairs, Balmedie is conveniently placed to serve our large customer base on the coast and in Bridge Of Don.
For MOT’s, servicing on all makes and models, tyres, exhausts, brakes, clutches and mechanical breakdowns, contact Balmedie.
Lawrence Of Kemnay has extensive coverage throughout the North East
Lawrence Of Kemnay now has extensive coverage throughout the North East to ensure our continually growing client base can recieve the high level of service they are entitled to.
This perpetual growth can be largley attributed to ever increasing recommendations and referrals.
Even today, whilst handing over a car, the customer commented on the level of service received.
He voiced the opinion of the majority who are terrified of showrooms and car salespeople.
The experience had taken him aback and he was delighted and relieved to admit that the whole purchase and delivery experience had been pleasant, efficient and relaxed.
This has been the Lawrence Of Kemnay culture for nearly 60 years.
Don’t take our word for it, look for a Lawrence Of Kemnay rear window sticker in your street or workplace and ask for yourself.
Our best salespeople are our customers.
Over the years, thanks to a long serving, dedicated and enthusiastic staff, numerous National Motor Trade Awards have been forthcoming.
Currently retaining the position as the No. 1 Ford Retail Dealer in the U.K for New Car Sales and customer satisfaction.
Which we are fully committed to retaining in 2008 for the 5th consecutive year.
Ford Apprentice Workshop Technician of the year 2008
Indeed, in October 2008, Martin Milne was awarded Ford Apprentice Workshop Technician of the year 2008.(photos and press release to follow)
Martin overcame strong competition from over 10,000 entrants and was shortlisted to the final ten.
The final was held in the Henry Ford College at Loughborough and involved a number of theory and practical tests under the scrutiny of the Ford judges.
He even had to overcome the prescence of the ITV camera crew !
We are very proud of Martin, to have the best Ford Apprentice Technician in Uk and Northern Ireland is payback for our commitment to offering career prospects and training opportunities to local school leavers.
Martin has prospered under the watchful eye of Roy Lawrence and Stanley Daun.
No awards for these two, but they can be justifiably proud of their part in this success.
This consistency over the years, under each stewardship, has helped the company earn, and more importantly, maintain its’ unrivalled reputation for customer care and aftersales service.
